SetBreaker is a fun, easy to play, yet still challenging, slightly addictive, even a bit educational game.  It takes a quick mind and quick fingers and a little luck.

Game play is very simple, you will see four words or phrases or groups of symbols on the screen.  Usually three of these items belong in the same set, the forth one does not.  Simply deduce which one of the four items doesn’t belong with the others (i.e. is the SetBreaker) and touch it.  The faster you touch the SetBreaker the more you score.  See simple!  A hint appears in the upper left of the screen.  This hint will give you a general idea of what we are looking for.  It can be quite helpful to use this hint.  So use it.  It’s free.

Of course it’s not quite all THAT simple.  Every once in a while (more or less) you will find either ALL four items belong in the same set or NONE of the items belong together.  If they all belong together press All Match (asap) to score.  If none of them belong together press No Match.   The more questions you answer in a row the more you score getting bonuses for three in a row, six in a row, nine in a row....

Games may be played for two, three or five minutes.  (Which makes them great if you are waiting in line or sitting in a waiting room, or just have a few minutes to kill.)  If you are feeling really lucky and smart and quick you can play EXPERT, which means the game keeps going until you press a wrong button or don’t answer a question before the time bonus runs out.  In the coming months we hope to have monthly expert tournaments where the player who scores the highest on expert for that calendar month (and sends the score to us) will receive an Apple gift card.

If you want to add a little arcade flavor to the game you can click on the arcade button in the settings.  When arcade is “on” the game will place some random “distractions” on the screen, you can touch these distractions to earn bonus points.  Be careful though if a distraction disappears when you are about to tap it, you could tap a wrong answer instead.

Questions are generated randomly from a large database of thousands of items.  The questions come in three difficulty levels originally named level 1,2 and 3.  Level 1 questions are pretty straight forward and meant for all age.  Level 2 questions take a bit more thinking.  Level 3 questions actually mix in a bit of classic trivia.  Level 3 questions are the one spot where there may actually be an advantage to being older.  We will release periodic updates with more questions.
